Turkish jewellery industry continues to increase its share in the global jewellery market. Türkiye’s market share in the global jewellery industry was 3.9%, with jewellery exports worth 4.1 billion dollars in 2017. According to the data of 2021, Türkiye's market share, which realized 6.8 billion dollars of exports, rose to 6.9%.
Turkish jewellery industry continues to grow. The market share of Türkiye, which is one of the largest jewellery production centers in the world, in the global jewellery industry is constantly increasing. While the global jewellery industry market share was 3.9% in 2017, it increased to 6.9% in 2021. While the total world jewellery exports were 110.7 billion dollars in 2017, this figure decreased to 98.75 billion dollars at the end of 2021. On the other hand, Türkiye's jewellery exports rose from $4.1 billion to $6.8 billion.
Despite the 7% decrease in global jewellery exports between 2017 and 2021, Turkish jewellery industry increased its exports by 65%. Türkiye's biggest rival, Italy, exported 6.9 billion dollars in 2017 and 8.9 billion dollars in 2021. Italy's exports increased by 28% in the 2017-2021 period.
Türkiye is among the most important manufacturers of the world, especially in the gold jewelry category, along with Italy.
Stating that Türkiye is a very important gold production center, Turkish Jewellery Exporters' Association President Burak Yakin said; “The Turkish jewellery industry continues to grow every year. Between 2017 and 2021, we became the country that increased its exports the most. World jewellery exports decreased by 7% in this period, but Türkiye's exports increased by 65%. We are currently the 7th largest jewellery exporter in the world. If we continue at this pace, we can become one of the top 3 jewellery exporters in the world in just a few years.
We have very important advantages
There are approximately 5000 jewellery manufacturers operating in Türkiye. There are many jewellery manufacturers around Istanbul's Grand Bazaar. Kuyumcukent is one of the world's largest jewellery production centers. Here, there are more than 1000 manufacturers under one roof. There are hundreds of jewellery manufacturers in the Vizyon Park production facilities right next to it. Diamond Tower 1-2 facilities will start service soon. Giant jewellery factories are operating in Türkiye at the same time. There are also giant gold refinery companies in Türkiye, two of which are LBMA members.
