OROAREZZO 2023: A GLOBAL SUCCESS

The 42nd edition of OROAREZZO closes with a +40% turnout compared to 2022 and with 430 hosted buyers from 55 countries

OROAREZZO 2023 closes a record edition with a +40% number of visitors compared to 2022. The event dedicated to Made in Italy goldsmithing closes today (May 16th 2023), which this year has renewed its concept with even more attention to jewelery production. “Shaping Jewelry Ideas” is in fact the theme that sums up the new formula, which has been combined with a new layout in the spaces of Arezzo Fiere e Congressi.

The success of OROAREZZO 2023 is therefore global with 100 countries of the visitors’ origin. Among foreign geographical areas, Europe occupies 42%, the Middle East 25.5%, the Americas 11.3%, Asia 11% and Africa 9.1%.

Specifically, the most represented countries for Europe are Spain, France and Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Turkey for the Middle East, and the USA for the Americas. Buyers from the Far East are also returning with China, Hong Kong and Japan (5.6%), Mexico and Argentina among the most represented countries in LATAM with almost 3%, and the countries of Central Asia which are close to 2% with Uzbekistan being the most represented country.

Lastly, the number of hosted buyers for this 42nd edition has also doubled: 430, coming from 55 countries, thanks to the synergy with the ICE Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the work of the international network of IEG regional advisors.

The 2023 edition was characterized by five cornerstones of change. OROAREZZO was first of all characterized by a new positioning on the appointments calendar for the gold and jewelry business, it gave more space to gold and jewelry production and to the technology segment, visitors found a new layout which facilitated the experience between different exhibitions sectors, a large investment in the contingent of buyers all reported by exhibitors as important buyers and finally a growing content program and the involvement of the younger generations with the new "Talents" category of the Première competition signed by Beppe Angiolini.

OROAREZZO 2023 was also a path shared with local stakeholders: from the Arezzo-Siena Chamber of Commerce to Arezzo Fiere e Congressi, to the Municipality of Arezzo, the Province of Arezzo and the Tuscany Region. And again: the Consulta Orafa Aretina, Confindustria Federorafi, Confartigianato, CNA, AFEMO, Assocoral and Confcommercio Federpreziosi. A choral work that has contributed to making OROAREZZO’s DNA even more distinctive, in its territory, in the context of Italian industry and in the context of the reference foreign markets: manufacturing of excellence and cutting-edge technology appreciated and sought after all over the world. Sharing with local actors, which led, among the various initiatives, to an event dedicated to foreign buyers: an experiential tour of the Golden City organized together with Confguide Confcommercio Arezzo.

Furthermore, thanks to the inventiveness of Beppe Angiolini, ambassador of OROAREZZO and art director, the 32nd edition of the Première competition was enriched this year with a new category: "Talents". In a historical moment in which the Arezzo district becomes the Italian export champion with about a third of national production directed to foreign markets, generational turnover in the industry becomes crucial. To link the creativity and style of the goldsmith tradition of Arezzo and the Italian districts to the future of the art of jewelry, "Talents" has broadened the audience of creatives who competed with the theme of "light" to the students of three school training courses local goldsmiths: the Masters in Jewelry History, Design and Marketing from the University of Siena Campus of Arezzo, the Margaritone Professional Technical Institute and the Piero della Francesca High School, both in Arezzo.
